Dr. Deva Henry brings in a unique international mix of experiences from government, academia, industry, complex system development, and research. He was a member of the core teams that developed the Guide to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK), the Graduate Reference Curriculum for Systems Engineering (GRCSE) and Atlas: The Theory of Effective Systems Engineers (the Helix project).

Deva hails from Vellore, Tamilnadu, India and started his career in 1997 as a Scientist/Engineer with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), Ministry of Defence, Government of India after receiving a B.Tech degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai, India. He has worked on various aspects related to the design and development of the Airforce and Naval variants of India’s Light Combat Aircraft (Tejas). Deva also received an M.Tech degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) – Bombay, Mumbai, India.

After a decade long career in India, Deva moved to the USA in 2006 to pursue a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey. While at Stevens, he was associated with the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC) as a research engineer, and worked on major projects sponsored by the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (ODASD) – Systems Engineering, U.S. Department of Defense, INCOSE and IEEE that developed SEBoK, GRCSE, and Atlas. In addition, he has worked on systems engineering related projects sponsored by U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), U.S. Navy Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Northrop Grumman Corporation.

As a Lecturer at Stevens and an Assistant Professor at Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Deva has developed and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in systems engineering, general engineering, operations research, information systems, and supply chain management. He is also a Program Evaluator for systems engineering programs, with the ABET-Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC).

Deva returned to India in 2019, and worked as Head of Systems Engineering / Chief of Operations & Delivery at a Bangalore-based startup company that designed and developed drones for societal applications in agriculture and healthcare. He is now actively pursuing a career in systems engineering education, research, and consultancy.

In 2021, Deva joined BlueKei Solutions as a Principal Consultant to support systems engineering training and consulting projects for government, industry, and academia. He also joined BlueKei colleagues Stueti and Mudit in partnering with CTI to offer INCOSE SEP Exam Prep training to countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Deva currently lives in Bangalore, India with his wife Julia and daughter Catherine. His wide range of interests include quizzing, jigsaw puzzles, spicy food, music, cricket, movies, board games, traveling, basketball, and cooking.
